Morocco's Tourism Sector Experiences Significant Growth
According to the High Commission for Planning in Morocco, the results for the tourism sector in 2025 indicate a remarkable increase in the gross domestic product (GDP) contributed by tourism, which surged by 11.7% compared to 2024, reaching an impressive 129.7 billion dirhams. This growth reflects the sector's vital role in bolstering the national economy and highlights its increasing importance in the overall economic landscape of Morocco.
The Commission released an informative note stating that the rise in net taxes from tourism products, which climbed by 16%, significantly contributed to this growth in the GDP from tourism. The contribution of the tourism sector to the national GDP rose from 7.2% in 2024 to 7.5% in 2025, further underscoring the sector's pivotal role in the Moroccan economy. The internal tourism consumption also saw a notable rise, amounting to 222.4 billion dirhams for the year 2025, up from 201.7 billion dirhams in 2024, marking an increase of 10.3%.
This positive trend can be attributed to a combined increase in inbound tourism consumption, which rose by 12.5% to reach 154 billion dirhams, alongside a 5.5% increase in consumption linked to domestic and outbound tourism, totaling 68.4 billion dirhams. In terms of the overall structure of this consumption, the share of inbound tourism accounted for 69.2% of internal consumption, while the share of domestic and outbound tourism declined to 30.8%.
The Commission also noted that the production of the tourism sector settled at 199.4 billion dirhams in 2025, reflecting a 9.6% increase. Furthermore, the added value generated by the sector rose to 106.8 billion dirhams, registering a 10.8% growth. This data not only emphasizes the resilience and growth of Morocco's tourism sector but also illustrates its crucial contribution to the nation's economic stability and development.
