Morocco's Tourism Sector Set for Significant Growth by 2025

Substantial Growth Forecast for Morocco's Tourism Sector in 2025

In an exciting development for Morocco's economy, the Satellite Account of Tourism (CST) has projected a remarkable growth in the tourism sector for the fiscal year 2025. According to the decree, the tourism sector's contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is expected to rise by 11.7% compared to 2024. This growth will elevate the share of tourism in the national GDP to 7.5% in 2025, up from 7.2% in 2024, signaling a stronger economic integration of this vital sector.

Furthermore, domestic tourism expenditure is anticipated to reach 222.4 billion dirhams in 2025, which marks a substantial increase from 201.7 billion dirhams in 2024, translating to a growth rate of 10.3%. This positive trend can be attributed to two main factors: first, an increase in travel spending which is projected to rise by 12.5%, from 136.9 billion dirhams in 2024 to 154 billion dirhams in 2025. Second, expenditure related to both domestic and international tourism is expected to grow by 5.5%, increasing from 64.8 billion dirhams in 2024 to 68.4 billion dirhams in 2025.

In the overall structure of this consumption, the share of travel spending is predicted to constitute 69.2%, an increase from 67.9% in 2024. In contrast, the share of domestic and international tourism is expected to decrease to 30.8%, down from 32.1% in the previous year.

Moreover, the production of the tourism sector is estimated to reach 199.4 billion dirhams in 2025, a rise from 181.9 billion dirhams in 2024, reflecting a growth rate of 9.6%. The sector's value added is projected to amount to 106.8 billion dirhams, compared to 96.4 billion dirhams the previous year, marking an impressive increase of 10.8%.

When accounting for an increase in net taxes minus subsidies on tourism products by 16%, the tourism GDP is expected to rise by 11.7%, reaching 129.7 billion dirhams in 2025, up from 116.2 billion dirhams in 2024. This reinforces the tourism sector's contribution to the national GDP, which has strengthened from 7.2% in 2024 to 7.5% in 2025, confirming the growing importance of this sector within Morocco's economy.
