Positive Outlook for Casablanca Stock Exchange: MASI Index Rebounds as Industrial and Energy Stocks Surge

The Casablanca Stock Exchange has kicked off the week of October 26, 2026, on a positive note, with its main index, the MASI, experiencing an uptick of 0.59%, reaching 17,154.15 points. This rebound comes after a period of volatility characterized by profit-taking and persistent caution among investors. Initial trades reveal a favorable momentum for several industrial and energy stocks, including Jet Contractors, Taqa Morocco, and Ciments du Maroc. However, the sustainability of this rebound will depend on trading volumes and the market's ability to regain a durable upward trend.

This financial hub in Morocco opens the last week of October with encouraging signs. Following the hesitations observed in previous sessions, the first exchanges on Monday, October 26, indicate a renewed interest in several major listed capitalizations. The MASI index, which encompasses the principal values of the market, has risen by 0.59%, reflecting a broader recovery movement at the opening.

The MASI 20 index, representing the twenty most liquid stocks, has advanced by 0.58% to 1,249.20 points, while the MASI ESG, dedicated to companies selected based on environmental, social, and governance criteria, has gained 1.09% to reach 1,263.53 points. Additionally, the index for small and medium capitalizations is also following this upward trend, increasing by 0.60% to 1,642.53 points.

These performances indicate a return of investor interest across several segments of the market, although initial quotes do not yet conclusively signal a durable trend reversal. The industrial and energy sectors are among the primary beneficiaries of this positive opening. Jet Contractors has seen a remarkable increase of 5.07%, bringing its price to 1,575 dirhams, while Taqa Morocco has climbed by 3.93% to 1,694 dirhams.

Ciments du Maroc also registered a rise of 3.35%, trading at 1,449 dirhams, followed closely by Vicenne, which gained 3.33% to 310 dirhams, and IB Maroc.com, which increased by 3% to 51.5 dirhams. Conversely, some stocks are experiencing selling pressures. Cartier Saada has declined by 4.09% to 18.51 dirhams, and CIH Bank has decreased by 4.07% to 305.05 dirhams, along with other companies like Zellidja, Med Paper, and Afriquia Gaz also reflecting declines.

A Market in Search of Visibility and New Catalysts

The observed rebound at the opening occurs in an environment where investors remain attentive to macroeconomic prospects, corporate earnings, and the directions of the 2027 finance bill. The programming of significant public investments, the Kingdom's industrial ambitions, and the prospects for infrastructure development could contribute to sustaining interest in certain listed companies.

Companies operating in the construction, materials, energy, and industrial services sectors could particularly benefit, in the medium term, from the realization of major investment projects. However, it is essential to distinguish between general economic prospects and individual stock performances. An increase in stock prices can arise from various factors, including earnings expectations, technical movements, or portfolio reallocations.

Thus, the rise in indices alone does not serve as proof of a sustainable return of confidence. The Casablanca market continues to face several challenges, including improving liquidity, broadening the investor base, and diversifying the companies represented on the exchange. In this context, the development of new initial public offerings and the enhancement of financial transparency could help deepen the Moroccan capital market.

The ability of this financial hub to support the financing of the real economy will also be an essential indicator of its development. For Moroccan companies, turning to the stock market can represent an alternative to traditional bank financing, particularly to support expansion programs, industrial investments, and growth operations.

The positive opening on October 26 reflects a momentary improvement in market sentiment. Its confirmation will depend on trading developments in the upcoming sessions and the robustness of profit prospects for listed companies. Beyond the daily fluctuations of the MASI, the real challenge for the Casablanca Stock Exchange lies in its capacity to mobilize more savings, finance productive enterprises, and sustainably support Morocco's economic transformation.
