The Rabat-Salé Airport has showcased remarkable growth as it recorded an 18.6% increase in passenger traffic by the end of September 2026, according to data released by the National Airports Office (ONDA). This surge is particularly noteworthy as it reflects the broader recovery of air travel in Morocco following the challenges posed by recent global events.
During the first nine months of 2026, the airport welcomed a total of 1,902,312 passengers, up from 1,603,948 during the same period in 2025. This increase signifies a return of confidence in air travel and highlights the airport's strategic importance as a key transport hub in Morocco. Specifically, in September alone, Rabat-Salé Airport saw 206,422 passengers, a remarkable increase of 23.97% compared to the 166,516 travelers recorded in September 2025.
The breakdown of the airport's passenger traffic reveals a strong preference for international flights, with 1,745,680 international travelers recorded, showing a significant rise of 20.34%. In contrast, domestic flights accounted for 156,632 passengers, marking a modest increase of 2.13%. This trend underlines the airport's critical role in connecting Morocco with global destinations.
Additionally, Rabat-Salé Airport recorded a total of 13,418 aircraft movements by the end of September 2026, representing a 19.07% increase from the previous year. This uptick in activity is part of a national trend, as Morocco's airports collectively handled 29,330,764 passengers during the same period, reflecting an 8.74% increase from 2025's figure of 26,972,726 passengers.
This growth in passenger traffic not only underscores the resilience of Morocco’s aviation sector but also positions Rabat-Salé Airport as a vital player in enhancing the country's tourism and economic landscape. As travel continues to rebound, it is expected that the airport will further expand its offerings and services to meet the increasing demand.
