Severe Weather Warning for Morocco
The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a warning regarding an impending heat wave that could push temperatures as high as 45°C, along with thunderstorms that may bring hail and strong winds to various provinces across the Kingdom. This alert is particularly significant as temperatures are expected to range between 42°C and 45°C in multiple regions, including Oued Ed-Dahab, Es-Semara, Errachidia, Assa-Zag, Boujdour, Aousserd, and others.
Additionally, the provinces of Youssoufia, Rabat, Salé, Khénifra, Taroudant, Khouribga, Settat, Chichaoua, and Sidi Bennour will experience milder but still concerning temperatures between 38°C and 42°C. Residents of these areas are advised to take necessary precautions to mitigate the risks associated with extreme heat.
Thunderstorms with Potential Hail
In conjunction with the heat wave, thunderstorms accompanied by hail and strong gusts of wind are anticipated from Thursday at 3 PM to Friday at 6 AM, particularly in the provinces of Oued Ed-Dahab and Aousserd, where rainfall totals may reach between 20 to 40 mm. Furthermore, areas including El Kelaâ des Sraghna, Al Haouz, Azilal, Chichaoua, Rehamna, and Marrakech will also witness thunderstorm activity on Thursday, from 2 PM to 11 PM, with expected precipitation ranging from 15 to 25 mm.
In light of these severe meteorological conditions, the General Directorate of Meteorology urges the public to remain vigilant, as these weather patterns could significantly impact local travel and activities within the affected zones.
