Fez Court Upholds 30-Year Sentence for Nightclub Intruder

On the evening of Tuesday, October 21, 2026, the Criminal Chamber of the Court of Appeal in Fez upheld the initial ruling against a young man who was convicted for crashing a truck into a nightclub located at a hotel in Ain Chkef, near Fez, back in January. This incident resulted in the tragic deaths of two individuals and injuries to three others, alongside significant material damage to the hotel and its associated nightclub.

The appellate court confirmed the primary sentence of thirty years of imprisonment after finding the defendant guilty of charges including premeditated murder, attempted murder, public drunkenness, driving under the influence, and causing material damage to private property. The details of this case date back to the early hours of Sunday, January 4, when a driver, operating a large "Mitsubishi" truck, rammed into the hotel, subsequently colliding with the nightclub's facilities.

The consequences of this reckless act were dire, as two security guards were killed; one succumbed to severe injuries while receiving treatment in the intensive care unit at the Hassan II University Hospital in Fez. In addition, three other individuals sustained varying degrees of injuries, necessitating their transfer to a medical facility for urgent care. The incident also inflicted substantial damage, affecting nine vehicles parked in the hotel’s garage and causing extensive harm to several areas of the hotel premises.
