Morocco's Airports Experience 8.81% Increase in Passenger Traffic in 2026

Significant Growth in Passenger Numbers Across Moroccan Airports

In a remarkable display of growth, Moroccan airports welcomed a total of 26,040,927 passengers during the first eight months of 2026, marking an impressive increase of 8.81% compared to the same period in 2025, according to the National Airports Office (ONDA). This surge in passenger traffic is indicative of the robust recovery and resilience of Morocco's aviation sector.

The passenger figures are divided into international air traffic, which saw an increase of 8.82%, reaching 23,228,711 passengers, and national traffic, which grew by 8.76% to total 2,812,216 passengers. These statistics reflect ONDA's analysis of commercial air traffic for August 2026. Among the airports, Casablanca's Mohammed V Airport stood out with 8,252,410 passengers, followed closely by Marrakech-Menara Airport with 7,235,705, Agadir-Al Massira with 2,498,637, Tangier Ibn Battouta with 2,058,606, and Rabat-Salé with 1,695,890 passengers.

International Traffic Boosted by European Market

The increase in international air traffic has been significantly fueled by the strong performance of the European market, which remains the leading source of passengers for Morocco, contributing 19,268,771 travelers, an increase of 9.22% year-on-year. Other markets, including South America, North America, and Africa, also demonstrated robust growth, with respective increases of 33.53% (71,684 passengers), 13.08% (689,808 passengers), and 13.31% (1,391,786 passengers). Notably, traffic with Maghreb countries rose by 9.36%, accommodating 347,736 individuals.

Conversely, there was a decline in traffic from the Middle and Far East, which saw a reduction of 2.43%, totaling 1,458,926 passengers. Additionally, Moroccan airports recorded 190,342 aircraft movements by the end of August 2026, reflecting a year-over-year increase of 9.72%. Mohammed V Airport led with 64,589 movements, followed by Marrakech-Menara with 47,291 and Agadir-Al Massira with 17,073 movements. Air freight also experienced growth, reaching 74,714.46 tons during the first eight months of the year, a rise of 13.82% compared to the same timeframe in 2025. In August alone, Moroccan airports welcomed 3,757,512 passengers.
