Ukrainian Forces Intensify Pressure on Russian Troops Amid Growing Casualties

The 4th Brigade of Ukraine's National Guard, known as the Rubizh Brigade, has reported a significant escalation in their operations against Russian forces in their sector. As of March 18, recent communications indicate that Russian troops are facing mounting difficulties, underscored by a series of failed assaults and increasing losses. Intelligence suggests that Russia is potentially planning to deploy foreign mercenaries from Ethiopia and Morocco to bolster their ranks, a move that reflects an urgent need for reinforcements.

In a comprehensive update shared through their official channels, the brigade detailed the intensity of the recent confrontations. Within just a 24-hour period, Russian forces made nine separate assault attempts, all of which were successfully repelled by Ukrainian defenders. This staunch resistance has allowed Ukrainian forces to maintain control over their positions, resisting any breakthroughs despite the relentless waves of attacks they have faced.

Russian troops have reportedly employed light and agile vehicles, including quad bikes and motorcycles, in an effort to swiftly advance and overwhelm Ukrainian defenses. However, all 11 vehicles utilized in these assaults were destroyed through coordinated defensive actions by the Rubizh Brigade and allied units. This decisive response highlights the effectiveness of Ukrainian tactics in countering Russian maneuvers.

The human cost for Russian personnel has been steep, with reports indicating that 14 enemy soldiers were killed and four wounded in a single day. Cumulatively, these losses have amounted to the equivalent of an infantry platoon, showcasing a persistent pattern of attrition that suggests Russian forces are paying a significant price for their unsuccessful offensive strategies.

Intercepted radio communications have shed further light on the challenges facing Russian troops, with Ukrainian forces noting frequent discussions regarding the deployment of foreign fighters as a last-ditch effort to sustain their assault operations. This revelation suggests that Russian manpower in the sector is increasingly strained, raising questions about the sustainability of their operations moving forward.

In addition to these developments, the Rubizh Brigade has reported a deteriorating situation for Russian troops besieged near one of the local settlements. Up to a dozen marines and special forces personnel are reportedly surrounded and wounded, with evacuation attempts having failed and the delivery of medical supplies becoming perilously difficult under the constant fire from Ukrainian forces.

In a striking instance, Russian forces sent a motorcyclist on a dangerous mission to deliver medical supplies to the isolated group. However, the courier lost his way amidst the gunfire, moving erratically before ultimately being neutralized, along with the supplies he was carrying. This incident underscores the perilous conditions under which both sides are operating.

Moreover, Ukrainian forces have observed signs of misinformation within the ranks of Russian troops. In the town of Bilytske, commanders are allegedly being misled into believing that full assault groups are present, when in reality, only small, disorganized clusters of troops remain, exhibiting minimal combat readiness. Such discrepancies could complicate Russian command and control, especially as pressure mounts on the front lines.
