Morocco Graces the ‘Turathna 2026’ Exhibition in Cairo
On October 19, 2026, Morocco proudly took center stage as the honorary guest at the eighth edition of the "Turathna 2026" exhibition, which began on Saturday at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in Cairo. This event, running until October 24, showcases the richness and diversity of Moroccan artisanal heritage, under the theme "The Origin of the Tale." The Moroccan pavilion offers an array of authentic exhibits, including intricate copper crafts, traditional rugs, cedar woodworks, and traditional Moroccan attire, all of which reflect the deep cultural roots of both Arab and Amazigh heritages. This vibrant display highlights the artistic expressions and craftsmanship that Morocco is renowned for, illustrating the country's rich artistic tapestry.
The "Turathna 2026" exhibition is organized by the Egyptian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency and marks its eighth consecutive year. It aims to support the handicrafts and heritage sector while bolstering production and export capacities. More than a thousand exhibitors from various Egyptian regions, including individuals, associations, cooperatives, and institutions, are participating, alongside international pavilions from other countries.
The exhibition features a wide range of traditional industries, encompassing clothing, jewelry, shell crafts, pottery, rugs, candles, leather goods, woodworks, glass items, and food products such as olive oil, honey, and dates. Earlier today, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli inaugurated the event, taking time to visit the Moroccan pavilion to appreciate the quality, diversity, and richness of Moroccan craftsmanship.
In remarks to the press during this occasion, the Egyptian official emphasized the importance of continuing to support handicrafts and heritage sectors, noting that organizing such an event reflects Egypt's commitment to this industry. He added that these efforts are part of a national strategy aimed at establishing Egypt as a leading center for the production and export of handicrafts, with a focus on supporting productive clusters and artisans across various governorates.
