National Railway Office Announces Temporary Train Schedule Changes

The National Railway Office of Morocco has officially announced the implementation of temporary modifications to train schedules over the coming weeks. This decision coincides with the ongoing construction of the high-speed rail line connecting Kenitra and Marrakech, alongside other projects affecting the conventional rail network. These measures aim to accommodate the progress of construction while striving to maintain service continuity to the greatest extent possible.

The Office emphasized that the reorganization of train schedules is primarily intended to ensure that the construction work is carried out under optimal safety conditions while minimizing its impact on passenger travel. The anticipated changes will affect several train lines and schedules as the works related to the high-speed train project, which will eventually reach Marrakech, are advancing.

New Transport Plan Set to Launch

A new transport plan is expected to come into effect starting September 14, 2026, coinciding with a new phase of construction for the Kenitra-Marrakech line. The measures will include restricting the routes of certain trains and gradually closing some stations, including the Colleges and Nassim stations, according to the published details of the new plan.

To avoid confusion among travelers, the Office is preparing to gradually reveal details about the adjustments and their impacts on various routes, beginning the week of September 7. Furthermore, a special notification system will be established across stations, trains, and digital platforms to enable passengers to stay informed about the new schedules and routes in advance.

These changes are set against the backdrop of the accelerating pace of the Kenitra-Marrakech high-speed rail project, which represents one of the most significant modernization efforts in Morocco's rail transport network. Alongside the ongoing construction, work continues on the infrastructure, power supply, and facilities associated with the new line, necessitating a phased reorganization of train operations until the construction progresses and the network returns to a more stable operational pattern.
